Parks gagawa ng kasaysayan sa NBA D-League

MANILA, Philippines – Aabangan ng mga Pinoy ang posibleng pagkakabilang ni Bobby Ray Parks Jr. sa regular season line-up ng Texas Legends sa pagharap sa Austin Toros ngayon sa NBA Development League sa Cedar Park Center sa Texas.

Isang undrafted player sa nakaraang NBA Rookie Draft at naglaro sa NBA pre-season para sa Dallas Mavericks, isinama si Park sa 17-man training camp team ng Legends ilang araw matapos mahugot bilang 25th overall pick sa NBA D-League.

Sa kanyang ipinakita ay maaaring ang 6-foot-4 na Fil-Am ang magiging kauna-unahang Filipino player na naglaro sa NBA D-League.

“The beauty of it is we got a lot of good shooters that are battling for the same position. We got guys who are good... being a good teammate, being a professional. It’s always a blessing and makes your job a lot easier,” ani Texas coach Nick Van Exel.

Si Parks ay naglaro para sa National University Bulldogs at isang two-time UAAP Most Valuable Player awardee.

Si Parks, anak ni seven-time PBA Best Import Bobby, Sr., ang naging ikalawang Pinoy na nakuha sa NBA farm league matapos si Japeth Aguilar noong 2012.

Kinuha ang 6’8 na si Aguilar ng Santa Cruz Warriors sa seventh round ng NBA D-League Rookie Draft, ngunit hindi napa­sama sa official roster sa regular season.
