48 finalists handa na sa Shell chessfest

MANILA, Philippines – Pangungunahan nina National Capital Region (NCR) leg winners Marc Labog, Julius Gonzales at Jerome Aragones ang 48-player field na magsusulong ng piyesa sa 2015 Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship national finals sa Sabado sa SM Megamall.

Nanalo si Labog, isang Adamson University standout, sa seniors division ng NCR leg at isinama sina runner up McDominique Lagula ng San Beda at National University bet Antonio Almodal sa Sept. 19-20 national finals.

Makakaagawan nila para sa top honors ang iba pang top finishers mula sa Visayas, Northern at Southern Min­danao at Southern Tagalog legs.

Ang lahat ng finalists ay produkto ng three-month long, five-leg regional circuit na itinataguyod ng Shell sa nakaraang 23 taon.

Dumalo rin sa sesyon sina tournament director Ale­xander Dinoy at Melanie Bularan, ang social investment and social performance manager ng Shell.

Makakatapat ni Labog sa seniors event sina Visayas top notcher Adrian dela Cruz ng Negros Oriental State University at No. 2 Jethro Esplanada ng University of San Jose-Recoletos at sina Northern Mindanao winner Allan Pason ng USJ-Recoletos at runner-up Diego Abraham Claro ng University of Cebu.

Nasa grupo rin sina Southern Mindanao champion John Ray Batucan ng University of Mindanao at No. 2 Kenneth Norman Honculada ng Ateneo de Cagayan-Xavier University at sina Batangas leg No. 1 Ricardo Batcho ng City University of Pasay at second placer Vince Medina ng National University.
