UAAP women’s basketball Lady Eagles durog sa Lady Bulldogs

MANILA, Philippines – Nalasap ng nagdedepensang Bulldogs ang kanilang ikalawang sunod na kamalasan sa men’s division.

Ngunit may dahilan pa rin para magdiwang ang Nat­ional University.

Ito ay matapos ilampaso ng nagtatanggol sa koronang Lady Bulldogs ang Ateneo Lady Eagles, 70-36, para ilista ang kanilang 2-0 record sa UAAP Season 78 women’s basketball tournament sa Blue Eagle Gym.

Sa naturang panalo sa Lady Eagles ay kumamada si 2014 Most Valuable Player Afril Bernardino ng 17 points kasunod ang 14 ni national squad teammate Shelley Gupilan.

Kasalukuyang katabla ng Lady Bulldogs sa liderato ang University of Santo Tomas Tigresses at ang Adamson University Lady Falcons.

Tinalo ng Tigresses ang University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 58-52, habang nilusutan ng Lady Falcons ang Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws sa overtime, 69-64.

Nagposte si Candice Magdaluyo ng 12 points at 5 assists at nag-ambag sina Maica Cortes at Shanda Anies ng tig-10 markers para sa pananaig ng Tigresses kontra sa Lady Maroons.

Kumolekta naman si Joy Cochico ng 17 points, 9 rebounds at 8 assists, samantalang nag-ambag si Myra Osano ng 15 markers sa panig ng Lady Falcons.

Samantala, kumamada si Snow Peñaranda ng 15 points at 13 boards para pangunahan ang 2014 runner-up De La Salle Lady Archers sa 63-59 panalo laban sa University of the East Lady Warriors at ikasa ang 1-1 kartada.

May magkakatulad na 0-2 baraha ang Lady Eagles, Lady Maroons at Lady Tamaraws.
