Yap lumabas ang bangis sa krusyal na laban

MANILA, Philippines - Ilang beses na nga bang pinangunahan ni James Yap sa panalo ang San Mig Coffee.

Sa Game Five ng 2014 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals ay muling ipinakita ng two-time PBA Most Valuable Player kung bakit siya tinawag na ‘Big Game James’.

Pumukol ang 6-foot-2 na si Yap ng 29 points, tampok dito ang magandang 12-of-18 fieldgoal shooting, para tulungan ang Mixers sa 92-89 panalo laban sa Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at angkinin ang korona ng 2014 PBA Governors’ Cup noong Miyerkules sa Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Hinirang ang produkto ng University of the East bilang Finals MVP.

Bago ang laro ay pawang matataas ang intensidad ng lahat ng players ng San Mig Coffee.

Ngunit hindi si James na nanatiling tahimik sa isang sulok ng kanilang dugout.

“Everybody was so intense and James is in the corner, kind of relaxed,” sabi ni head coach Tim Cone sa tubong Escalante, Negros Occidental. 

Ito ang pangalawang sunod na Finals MVP citation at ikaapat sa kabuuan ni Yap, tinanghal na PBA MVP noong 2006 at 2010.

“Sobrang blessed. Thank you Lord,” ani James.
