Cabagnot at Yap parehong hinirang na Accel-PBA Press Corps co-Players of the Week

MANILA, Philippines - Mula sa kanilang paggiya sa kani-kanilang mga kopo­nan sa championship series ng 2013 PBA Governors’ Cup, hinirang sina Alex Cabagnot ng Petron Blaze at James Yap ng San Mig Coffee bilang mga Accel-PBA Press Corps Co-Players of the Week.

Nagtala si Cabagnot ng four-game averages na 15.5 points, 5.25 rebounds at 4.25 assists, tampok dito ang 23 markers at 8 boards sa 110-89 panalo ng Boosters kontra sa nagdedepensang Rain or Shine Elasto Pain­ters noong Lunes.

“Alex has taken it upon himself to be the leader of this team and I’m happy for him,” sabi ni Petron coach Gee Aba­nilla sa kanyang Fil-Am point guard.

Nakipagtambal si Cabagnot kay import Elijah Millsap sa arangkada ng Boosters sa third period kung saan sila nagtala ng isang 23-point lead kontra sa Elasto Painters.

Naglista naman ang two-time PBA Most Valuable Pla­yer awardee na si Yap ng three-game averages na 15.0 points at 5.3 rebounds.

Sa 79-73 pananaig ng San Mig Coffee laban sa Me­ralco noong Linggo ay umiskor si Yap ng 19 points.

“I think everyone rates James’ game based on whe­ther he is scoring, but he is bringing a lot more to the table than just that,” wika ni Mixers’ mentor Tim Cone kay Yap.

Kapwa tinapos ng Petron at San Mig Coffee sa 3-1 ang kani-kanilang mga best-of-five semifinals series ng Rain or Shine at Meralco.

Nakatakda ang Game One ng best-of-seven championship series ng Boosters ni Abanilla at ng Mixers ni Cone sa Biyernes sa Mall of Asia Arena.
