PLDT-ABAP nat’l finals binuksan na

MAASIN, Southern Leyte, Philippines --Binuksan na ang PLDT-ABAP National Bo­xing Championships noong Lunes tampok ang isang mini-Olympics presentation na sinamahan ng isang torch parade na nagpakita sa banner ng mga koponan.

Iniwagayway ni City Mayor Maloney Samaco ang malaking championship torch na inilibot sa loob ng gym bago ito sinindihan.

Dumalo din sa seremonya si Southern Leyte Rep. Roger Mercado, isang avid boxing fan.

“Truly one of the most colorful and well-organized opening ceremonies ever,” wika ni ABAP executive director Ed Picson na tinanggap ang kabuuang 132 boxers mula sa buong bansa.

Sa pagsisimula ng mga labanan, tinalo ni junior boys pinweight/ 46kgs: Reymark Ibones ng Ge­neral Santos si John Smith Gonzales ng Leyte, 12-10; giniba ni Jeronil Borres ng Misamis Oriental si Leo Domingo Napuli ng Maasin City, 16-9; ginapi ni Dick Espinola ng Northern Samar si Robert Paradero ng Aglayan via RSC-Injury; umiskor si Aldrin Signar ng Tayabas ng isang 10-7 panalo laban kay Jessie Kiamco ng Leyte; pinayukod ni Gernel Gaspi ng Sorsogon si Rico Evale ng Maasin City, 17-8; at ginapi ni Jeffrey Estella ng Mandaue si Joemarin Rubin ng Davao del Norte, 16-7.
