Bagong talento madidiskubre sa BP Mindanao Leg

MANILA, Philippines - Kumpiyansa sina Phi­lippine Sports Commission chair Richie Garcia at Dapitan City Mayor Patri Bajamunde-Chan na makakadiskubre sila ng mga bagong talento sa Mindanao leg ng POC-PSC Batang Pinoy 2011 na nakatakda sa Nobyembre 7-10.

Sinabi ng mga organi­zers na ang Mindanao ang naging pugad ng mga athletic talents lalung-lalo na sa track and field at swimming.

“We have always belie­ved that the best athletes are just waiting to be discovered not just in the big cities but more so in the countryside,” sabi ni Garcia. “And we rebooted the Batang Pinoy project in line with that belief.”

Kabuuang 11 sports events ang paglalabanan sa fourth leg ng Batang Pinoy kung saan ang 10 dito ay magsisilbing qualifying event para sa Iloilo National Finals sa Disyembre 5-8.

Bukod sa track and field at swimming na idaraos sa Jose Rizal Memorial State University Sports Complex, ang iba pang sports na na­kahanay ay ang arnis, badminton, boxing, chess, lawn tennis, karatedo, taek­wondo, table tennis at pencak silat na isang national final event.

Sinabi naman ni PSC commissioner Jolly Gomez na may patlang sa Pala­rong Pambansa na para sa mga elementary at high school students at sa elite level o sa national pool.
