MANILA, Philippines - Nagbitiw na si Topex Robinson bilang head coach ng San Sebastian Stags sa kainitan ng second round ng 88th NCAA season.
Nagdesisyon ang 36-anyos na si Robinson na iwanan ang Stags para tutukan ang kanyang trabaho bilang miyembro ng coaching staff ni Luigi Trillo sa Alaska Aces sa darating na 38th season ng PBA.
“With a sad heart, I have resigned as coach of San Sebastian to focus on being an assistant coach at Alaska Milk,” ani Robinson. “As much as I wanted to stay and finish the season, I could not because it would be unfair to the team and to the school because I would not be giving my 100 percent.”
Isinumite na ni Robinson, makakasama sa coaching staff ng Alaska si Letran Knights mentor Louie Alas, kay San Sebastian athletic director Frank Gusi ang kanyang “irrevocable” resignation.
Nilinaw naman ni Robinson na hindi niya tuluyang iiwanan ang Stags at sa halip ay tatayo siyang team consultant ng San Sebastian hanggang makakuha ng bagong head coach ang Stags.
Sinabi naman ni Gusi, ang kinatawan ng San Sebastian sa NCAA Management Committee, na hindi pa alam ng school management ang pagbibitiw ni Robinson.
“That is unofficial,” sabi ni Gusi. “As of now he’s still the coach and the management doesn’t know it yet. No replacement yet and he will not be replaced.”
Tinulungan ni Robinson ang Stags sa pagpasok sa finals ng nakaraang NCAA season para sa kanyang unang taon kung saan sila winalis ng nagkampeong San Beda Red Lions.
