Pangulong Aquino inaasahang dadalo sa send-off ng Olympic-bound athletes

MANILA, Philippines - Mararamdaman ng mga atletang la­lahok sa London Olympics ang mainit na su­porta mula sa iba't ibang sektor sa gaganaping sendoff party ngayon sa Blue Leaf sa Fort Bonifacio sa Taguig City.

Si Pangulong Benigno ‘Noynoy’ S. Aquino III ang si­yang inaasahan na ma­ngu­nguna sa seremonya na magsisi­mula sa ganap na alas-6 ng gabi.

"The presence of the President will give our athletes the much-needed ins­piration as they compete in the world's big­gest sports meet," wika ni Chef de Mis­sion at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) first vice-president Manny Lopez.

Umabot na sa 11 ang bilang ng at­letang nakapasok sa 2012 London Olym­pics.

Ang mga ito ay sina tracksters Ma­restella Torres at Rene Herrera, swimmers Jessie King Lacuna at Jasmine Alkhaldi, boxer Mark Anthony Barriga, ju­doka Tomohiko Hoshina, shooter Brian Ro­sario, Fil-Am BMX rider Daniel Caluag at weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz.

Huling pumasok ay ang mga archers na sina Mark Javier at Rachel Cabral.

Sina Hoshina at Caluag ay hindi maka­ka­dalo dahil sa pareho silang nasa ibang ban­sa at nagsasanay.

Si POC president Jose Cojuangco, Jr. at PSC chairman Ricardo Garcia ang mga matataas na sports officials na dadalo bu­kod pa kay businessman/sportsman Man­ny V. Pangilinan.

Matapos ang party, maghahanda na­man sina Barriga, Herrera, Torres, Alkhaldi at Laguna sa pagtungo sa London sa susunod na linggo para sa pre-Olympic Games training camp na inorganisa ng London Organizing Committee for Olympic Games (LOCOG).
