Win no. 2 ng Pinas ibinigay ni Aparri

ULAANBAATAR, Mon­golia--Matapos si ban­tamweight Nesthy Pe­tecio, si flyweight Alice Kate Aparri naman ang sumuntok ng panalo para sa PLDT-ABAP National Boxing Team sa 6th Asian Women’s Boxing Cham­pionships dito.

Umiskor ang 27-anyos na pambato ng Baguio City ng isang 15-5 tagumpay laban kay Meng-Chieh Pin ng Chinese-Taipei.

Nauna nang tinalo ni Petecio si Taiwanese bet Yuan Hu, 12-3, sa bantam­weight division sa pagsisimula ng torneo noong Lunes.

Mula sa opening bell ay hindi nilubayan ng mga suntok ng three-time SEA Games gold medalist at two-time World Champion­ships bronze winner na si Aparri, isang Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate ng University of Baguio, si Meng.

Samantala, nakatakdang labanan ni Josie Gabuco, isang two-time SEA Games gold medalist at bronze medalist sa 2008 World Championships,si light-flyweight Yukie Luo ng People’s Republic of China matapos makabunot ng bye sa first round.

Haharapin naman ni Pe­tecio si North Korean Un Jong Choe papunta sa medal round.

Ang torneo, may kabu­uang 82 partisipante mula sa 17 Asian nations, ay nag­sisilbing preparas­yon ng koponan para sa Wo­men’s Olympic Qualifying event sa Qinhuangdao, China sa Mayo.
