Aksyon sa BP 'di napigil ng masamang panahon

NAGA CITY, Philippines -- Sinimulan na kahapon ang Batang Pinoy 2011 National Cham­pionships, isang regional multi-sports event, dito sa Plaza Quezon.

Humigit-kumulang sa 2,000 gold medal at silver me­dal winners sa mga regional events sa National Capital Region, Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao ang mag-aagawan para sa pagka­kataong mapasama sa Phl team na lalahok sa 2014 Youth Olympic Games sa Nanjing, China.

Si Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, dating Mayor ng Naga City, kasama si Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro, FSC, ang nagbukas sa kompetisyon.

Dumalo rin sa seremonya sina Mayor John Bongat at Philippine Sports Commissio­ners Chito Loyzaga, Jolly Gomez at Akiko Thompson-Guevarra.

“It’s all systems go,” wika ni Loyzaga.

Sisimulan ang mga aksyon ngayong araw sa athletics, swimming, archery, bad­minton, basketball, boxing, chess, judo, swimming, lawn tennis, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting at wrestling.

Ang labanan sa gymnastics ang unang natapos, habang ang indigenous sport na arnis ay kinansela ng PSC.

Pakakawalan rin ngayong araw ang triathlon, naglalaman ng 250-meter swim, 5k biking at 1.2k running, para sa boys at girls at bukas naman para sa mixed relay event sa Naga Sports Complex.

Ang Southern Tagalog ay may 20 atleta mula na rin sa traditional powerhouse Laguna, magbabandera ng 89 gold at 75 silver medal winners.
