Ranggo ni Pacquiao itinaas sa Lt./Col.

MANILA, Philippines - Opisyal nang hinirang si Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao bilang isang lieutenant colonel sa Reserve Force ng Philippine Army.

Ginawa ang isang se­remonya kahapon ng umaga sa Fort Bonifacio.

Sina Major General Emmanuel Bautista, ang Commanding General ng Philippine Army, at Brigadier General Alex Albano ang naglagay kay Pacquiao ng bagong ranggo sa kanyang balikat.

Sa kanyang inihandang speech, sinabi ni Pacquiao na magiging seryoso siyang miyembro ng reserve officer corps ng Philippine Army.

“I want to take my role and responsibility to higher ground, to compensate for the discomfort I probably caused the Philippine Army family when some perso­nalities questioned my commissionship as lieutenant colonel,” ani Pacquiao.

Inamin rin ng Filipi­no world eight-division cham­pion na wala siyang ka­sa­nayan sa mga military ope­rations.

“Obviously, I am not trai­ned for military operations, but it should be emphasized that reservists, by their true nature, are civilian provisio­nal first and military personnel second,” wika ni ‘Pacman’.

Samantala, hanggang ngayon ay wala pang malinaw na detalye sa mega-fight nina Pacquiao at Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

Nauna nang inihayag ni Bob Arum ng Top Rank Promotions na nakausap na niya ang grupo ng Falcon Entertainment na handang magbigay ng malaking deposito para mapapirma sa fight contract sina Pacquiao at Mayweather.

Itinakda na sa Mayo 5, 2012 ang naturang Pacquiao-Mayweather super bout.
