National swimming walang nasisid na gintong medalya

PALEMBANG, Indonesia --- Malamang na maulit pa ang mahinang ipinakita ng swimming team sa 2013 Myanmar SEA Games.

Ito ay matapos ihayag ni coach Pinky Brosas na sa 2015 SEA Games pa lal­abas ang tikas ng kasa­lu­kuyang swimmers na na­bigong makapag-uwi ng me­dalyang ginto dito sa 26th edisyon.

“After the 2013 SEA Ga­­mes, we will have a very strong team. Sina Jessie La­cuna, Jose Gonzales and Jasmine Alkhaldi will be seniors by that time and they will be in their peak. Right now majority of our swim­mers are under 20 years old,” wika ni Brosas.

Dalawang silver medal ni­na Lacuna at Dorothy Hong ang pinakamataas na medalyang naabot ng ko­ponan na tumapos sa pa­mamayagpag ng Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (PASA) mu­la sa 2005 SEA Games.               

Ang grupo ni Miguel Mo­­lina ay naghatid ng apat na golds noong 2005 Phi­lip­pine SEAG, walo noong 20­07 sa Thailand at apat no­ong 2009 sa Laos.

Nangunang muli ang Singapore taglay ang 17 gold, 9 silver at 13 bronze me­dals.

Wala pang nakikitang ki­nang si Brosas kung 2013 SEA Games ang pag-uu­sa­pan kaya nagbabalak si­yang ibalik ang ilang nag­retiro ng swimmers para tu­mulong.

 Ang PASA, sa pamu­mu­no ni Mark Joseph, ay tu­manggap ng milyun-mil­­yong pondo mula sa PSC at PAGCOR para sa ka­nilang swimming develop­ment.
