SEAG crown idedepensa ng RP Team ni Black

MANILA, Philippines - Hindi man nagbigay ng kanyang prediksyon, tiwala naman si national coach Nor­man Black sa kakayahan ng hawak na koponan na manalo ng gintong medalya sa 26th SEA Games men’s basketball sa Nobyembre sa In­donesia.

 “I don’t give assurance because I can’t predict the future. But we have very good chance and I’m going there with the idea of win­ning the championship,” wi­ka ni Black kahapon sa SCOOP sa Kamayan sa Pad­re Faura, Malate.

Sariwa sa pagkapana­lo ng ikaapat na sunod na UAAP title para sa Ateneo, tinuran ni Black na nasa kan­yang panig ang 18 ma­huhusay na manlalaro na handang magsakripisyo pa­ra sa ban­sa sa 2011 SEA Games.

Nangunguna sa national pool ay ang mga Smart Gilas players na sina 6-foot-11 naturalized center Marcus Douthit at Chris Tiu bukod pa sa mga Blue Eagles na sina Nico Salva, Emman Monfort, Greg Slaughter, Kiefer Ravena at Justin Chua.

 Isinama pa sina UAAP MVP Bobby Ray Parks Jr. bukod pa kina Jerick Teng ng UST, Ronald Pascual at Ian Sangalang ng San Se­bastian, Jake Pascual at Garvo Lanete ng San Be­da, RR Garcia ng FEU at mga Fil-Ams na sina Chris Hodge, Chris Ellis, Chris Newsome at Keith Jensen.

Umaasa si Black na ma­kakasama si Douthit sa koponan upang mas tu­mibay ang hangaring kam­peonato sa SEAG.

Ngunit hindi ituloy nito ang balak na maglaro sa Chinese Basketball League bi­lang import, kukunin ni Black si 6’6 Aldrech Ra­mos ng FEU.

“If Douthit will play in Chi­na, I will invite Ramos to join the team,” sabi ni Black.
