Casio, Ababou humabol sa deadline

MANILA, Philippines - Umabot na sa pitong miyembro ng Smart Gilas Pili­pinas ang nagsumite ng kanilang aplikasyon para sa darating na 2011 PBA Rookie Draft na nakatakda sa Agosto 28 sa Robinson’s Place-Manila.

Nakahabol sa deadline kahapon ng alas-5 ng hapon sina JV Casio at Dylan Ababou ng Smart Gilas, habang nauna namang magbigay ng aplikasyon sina Mark Barroca, Mac Baracael, Jason Ballesteros at Fil-Ams Marcio Lassiter at Chris Lutz.

Sina Casio, Lassiter, Lutz, Chris Tiu at naturalized Marcus Douthit ay inilista ng Smart Gilas para sa bubuo sa koponang isasabak sa 2014 FIBA World Championship.

Ang Smart Gilas ay nagtapos bilang third-placer sa nakaraang Williams Jones Cup na idinaos sa Chinese-Taipei.

Susunod na paghahandaan naman ng Nationals ni Serbian coach Rajko Toroman ang 2011 FIBA-Asia Men’s Basketball Championships sa Setyembre 15-25 sa Wuhan, China kung saan pag-aagawan ang karapatang katawanin ang Asya sa 2012 Olympic Games sa London.

Nasa drafting rin sina PBA D-League Foundation Cup MVP Allein Maliksi, Paul Lee, Eric Salamat, Pamboy Raymundo, Ariel Mepana, Gilbert Bulawan, Reil Cervantes, Magi Sison at James Martinez.

“All remaining Smart Gilas players have submitted application,” sabi ni agent/player Charlie Dy, kinatawan ni Casio. “If in case my player changes his mind, we could pull out anytime before the Aug. 26 deadline.”

Hawak ng Powerade ang No. 1 pick kasunod ang Rain or Shine, Barako Bull (dating Air21), Powerade uli, Shopinas (dating Barako Bull), Alaska, Petron Blaze o Talk ‘N Text (depende sa magiging resulta ng PBA Governors’ Cup Finals), Barangay Ginebra at Barako Bull uli.
