Oledan dinomina ang men's road race

CANDELARIA, Zambales, Philippines --Pinagharian ni Tots Oledan ang isang three-man sprint laban sa isang dating Tour champion at grizzled veteran para sa inaugural road race ng Zamba Multisports Festival cycling competition dito kahapon.

Hinarap ang isang star-studded field of 80 riders kasama ang mga Tour champions at Asian titlist, tinalo ng 22-anyos na sina Oledan si 2009 Tour of Luzon winner Mark Guevarra at veteran Oscar Rindole sa kanyang bilis na dalawang oras at 57 seconds.

“Nagpursigi lang ako sa last 40 kms at kumawala sa last 25 kms in Masinloc town,” sabi ng native of Carigara, Leyte matapos ang 120-km race.

Kumalas si Baler Ra­vina, ilang ulit na naging King of the Mountain ng mga major Tours, sa huling 60 kms palapit sa Santa Cruz u-turn at nag-iisa na lamang sa natitirang 30 kms bago naabutan sa mild climb sa Masinloc.

Tumapos naman si Rustom Lim, ang road race bronze medallist sa Asian Junior Championships sa Nakhon Ratchasima sa Thailand, bilang 17th pla­cer.

Ang top 10 ng road race ay binubuo nina Ravina, Nicardo Guanzon, Sherwin Diamsay, Ericson Obosa, Eusebio Quinones, Francis Ramos at Calderon. Lahat sila ay naorasan ng magkakaparehong 2:58:00.
