Rain or Shine hindi na pinakawalan si Yeng

MANILA, Philippines - Pormal nang inihayag kahapon ng Rain or Shine ang pagkuha kay Yeng Guiao bilang bagong head coach ng Elasto Painters.

Sinabi nina co-team ow­ners Raymond Yu at Terry Que na hindi na nila pi­nakawalan ang pagkakata­on nang mapaso ang kon­tra­ta ni Guiao sa Air21.

“Obviously his reputation precedes him and Rain or Shine was not about to simply pass up the opportunity of having him mentor our players,” bahagi ng official statement ng Asian Coatings franchise. “Our negotiation has been fruitful and today we are happy to let you know that Mr. Guiao is the new head coach of Rain or Shine.”

Mismong si Caloy Garcia, magiging assistant ni Guiao, ang nagrekomenda sa Pampanga Vice-Gover­nor kina Yu at Que para pumalit sa kanya sa bench ng Rain or Shine.

“Upon the recommendation of coach Caloy himself, the team owners embarked on a quest to find a new head coach. Someone who embodies the competitive spirit that, at the outset, droves us to join PBA,” sabi ng prangkisa.

Ang Elasto Painters ang magiging pang limang PBA team ni Guiao matapos ang Swift/Sarsi, Pepsi/Mobiline, Red Bull at Burger King/Air21.

Ang 51-anyos na si Guiao ang gumiya sa Red Bull sa mga korona ng 2005-2006 Fiesta Cup, 2001 at 2002 Commissioner’s Cup.

Ibinigay naman ng pro­dukto ng University of the Phi­lippines sa Swift ang ti­tulo ng 1992 Third Confe­r­en­ce at 1993 Commissioner’s Cup.

Nagtapos ang Express, sa ilalim ni Guiao, bilang se­venth-placer sa 2010-2011 PBA Philippine Cup ma­tapos sibakin ng San Mi­guel Beermen, 97-75, sa kanilang quarterfinals match.

“There’s a lot to look for­ward to. The team will be ex­pecting a new coach and a new import in the coming sea­son. We will be intervie­wing candidates in the next few days,” ani Air21 governor Johann Ramos.
