2 dikit na talo sa Pinay pugs sa ASBC

MANILA, Philippines - Nalasap ng national wo­men’s boxing team ang ikala­wang sunod nitong kabiguan sa ginaganap na ASBC (Asian Boxing Confederation) Women’s Boxing Championships sa Astana, Kazakhstan.

Natalo si Nesthy Petecio kay Pavitra ng India, 4-5, matapos namang mabigo si Josie Gabuco kay two-time world champion Mery Kom Chungneijang ng India.

Nakuha ni Petecio ang 3-1 lamang sa second round matapos magtabla sa 1-1 sa first round. Ngu­nit naging mas agresibo si Pavirta upang angkinin ang 4-3 abante sa third round.

Pinilit ng 18-anyos na pambato ng Davao na maitabla ang laban ngunit hindi na sa kanya lu­malapit ang Indian fighter pa­tungo sa panalo nito.

Nakatakda namang sagupain ni flyweight Alice Kate Aparri ng Baguio City si South Korean So Min Kyung kagabi, ayon kay delegation head Ed Picson, ang executive director ng Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP).

“Kate is our strongest boxer in this tournament. She prepared long and hard for this. We think we stand a good chance at landing a medal with her,” ani Picson sa torneong magtatapos sa Mayo 30.
