Kapag nanalo, Gomez puntirya ni Melligen

MANILA, Philippines - Hindi pa man bumi­bi­taw ng suntok ay may pla­no na ang Filipino welterweight na si Mark Jason Melligen.

Sinabi ni Melligen na gusto niyang makasagupa si dating world title challenger Alfonso Gomez matapos si Mexican Norberto Gonzalez na kanyang haharapin ngayon sa isang 10-round, non-title fight sa Hard Rock Hotel and Casino sa Las Vegas, Nevada.

Si Gomez, nagdadala ng 22-4-2 win-loss-draw ring record kasama ang 11 KOs, ay kasalukuyang No. 10 sa listahan ng World Boxing Council (WBC) at sa International Boxing Federation (IBF) at No. 9 sa World Boxing Organization (WBO).

Pinuwersa ni Gomez sa pagreretiro si dating world champion Jose Luis Castillo para sa WBC Continental Ameri­cas title fight noong Marso 13 at pinigil naman ni Miguel Cotto sa fifth round ng World Boxing Association (WBA) title fight noong Abril 12, 2008.

Makaraan naman ang isang split decision loss kay Michael Rosales noong Nobyembre 13 sa Mandalay Bay House of Blues sa Las Vegas, bumangon naman ang tubong Bacolod City na si Melligen para igupo si Raymond Gatica via sixth-round TKO noong Pebrero 13 sa Las Vegas Hilton.

Ibinabandera ng 23-anyos na si Melligen ang 17-2-0 (13 KOs) slate kumpara sa 18-1-0 (12 KOs) slate ng pambato ng Monterrey, Mexico na si Gonzales.
