Angping nangako ng suporta sa RP divers na lalahok sa Asiad­­

MANILA, Philippines - Umaasa ang Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (PASA) na magagamit ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Harry Angping ang kanyang impluwensya para sa kapakanan ng mga national divers.

Sa kanilang huling pag-uusap, sinabi ni PASA president Mark Joseph na nangako si Ang­ping na susuportahan ang mga national divers sa paghahanda para sa darating na 16th Asian Games sa Guangzhou, China.

“He told me that malakas naman daw siya sa Tianjin (China). So he would be able to get a coach from there to come to the Philippines or get out divers to Tianjin to train,” wika kahapon ni Joseph kay Angping.

Ang dating softball association president na si Angping ay ang kasalukuyang Ambassador ng bansa sa China.

“I hope that he really does use his position as the Ambassador to China and his friendship with the people in Tianjin to reinforce his promise to train our divers,” sabi ni Joseph.

Bunga ng kanyang back in­jury, hindi nakalahok si Shiela Mae Perez, tatlong gold medals ang inangkin sa 2005 Southeast Asian Games, sa nakaraang Asian Games sa Doha, Qatar kung saan nag-uwi ang dele­gasyon ng kabuuang apat na gold, anim na silver at siyam na bronze medals para tumapos bilang No. 18 sa kabuuang 38 bansang lumahok.

Ang apat na gintong medalya ay nagmula kina boxers Joan Tipon at Violito Payla, wushu artist Rene Catalan at billiards master Antonio Gabica.

Maliban sa 24-anyos na si Perez, sumabak sa 2000 Olym­pic Games, ang iba pang miy­embro ng national diving team ay sina Jaime Asok, Rexel Ryan Fabriga, Nino Carog at Zardo Domenios

Sa nakaraang 2009 SEA Ga­mes sa Laos noong Disyembre ng 2009, apat na silver at isang bronze medals ang nasikwat ng mga national divers.
