Medina binaril ang gold sa SEA shootfest

BANGKOK--Umiskor ng malaking sorpresa ang batang Filipino shooter na si Nicole Medina sa idinadaos na Southeast Asian Shooting Association (SEASA) championships matapos na manalo ng gintong medalya sa 50-meter women’s rifle prone event dito.

Produkto ng Philippine National Shooting Association’s youth development program, nagtala si Medina ng 583 puntos upang talunin sina Malaysian shooters Nur Farrah Taufek (578) at Nur Ayuni Abdul Halim (576) upang ibigay sa Philippines ang unang ginto sa prestihiyosong competition.

Nagbulsa rin ang Filipinos ng apat na silver medal--dalawa kay Shanin Lyn Gonzales sa magkahiwalay na individual events at dalawa sa team nina Gonzales, Mica Padilla at Al-yanna Chuatoco.

Tumudla rin si Gonzales ng 740.8 points at 550 upang tumapos na ikalawa sa 25-meter SEASA junior sports pistol SEASA/Thailand Open junior sports pistol tourney.

Nakopo ng RP trio nina Gonzales, Padilla at Chuatoco ang silver medals sa SEASA junior at Thailand Open sports pistol competition.

Nagsisilbi din itong preparasyon ng mga Pinoy shooters para sa partisipasyon nila sa Laos Southeast Asian Games sa susunod na buwan.
