Visayas, National Milo Little Olympics champion

MANILA, Philippines - Malakas na tumapos ang mga students-athletes mula sa Visayas upang malagpasan ang dating lider na NCR at mahatak ang overall title sa first National Milo Little Olympics na ginanap sa Cebu City.

Naungusan ng Visayas ang palaging karibal na NCR ng 70 puntos at salamat sa winning performance sa athletics, badminton, chess, gymnastics, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, sipa, swimming, table tennis at volleyball.

Matapos maiwan ng powerhouse NCR sa opening day, humakot ang Visayas team ng puntos sa team events kung saan nakaipon ng 323 puntos sa elementary division at 298 sa high school division.

Sa kabuuan humakot ang Visayas ng 621 puntos, kasunod ang NCR na may 551, ikatlo ang Mindanao na may 373 at ikaapat ang Luzon na may 366.

Tinanggap ni Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña at ng kanyang asawang si Margot at Department of Education consultant Joy Augustus Young ang National Milo Little Olympics Perpetual Trophy.

“I congratulate all of the participants, especially the Team Visayas for winning the first National Milo Little Olympics. I commend Milo for holding this event in Cebu, which helps budding athletes become the best that they can be,” wika ni Mayor Osmeña.

Itatago ng Visayas ang Perpetual Trophy hanggang sa makoronahan ang bagong kampeon.

Mahigit 1,200 student-athletes mula sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa ang lumahok sa event na tinampukan ng 13 sports event tulad ng athletics, badminton, chess, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, scrabble, sepak takraw, sipa, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo at volleyball.
