CEBU, Philippines - Mosugod na ang Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas og pagpangita'g best junior best cagers sa nasud pinaagi sa pagpasiugda sa labing unang SBP National Juniors Championships nga sugdan sunod semana.

Ang qualifying round alang sa Area 4 (Visayas) nga naglangkob sa Regions VI, VII ug VIII, himuon karong Nobiyembre 9-15 diha sa Cebu Coliseum.

"Our main purpose (in holding this event) is to make our aspiring players ripe and ready enough for bigger challenges ahead. This is our breeding ground to form a junior team that will represent the country in international competitions in the future," matud pa ni SBP Visayas Area head Joe Soberano atol sa press conference kagahapon diha sa Yayoy's Grill and Resto Bar.

Maapil sa qualifying phase sa Central Visayas mao ang Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor ug Negros Oriental. Ang Eastern Visayas mao ang Tacloban ug Samar, samtang sa Western Visayas mao ang Bacolod ug Iloilo.

Ang top teams sa regional eliminations mo-abante ngadto sa Area Championships diin ang top two finishers makakuha og pasaporte alang sa National Finals nga gikatakda karong Disyembre 7-13.

"At this point, there is no venue yet for the National Finals but Cebu is keen on doing the hosting chores. Definitely we are going to bid for it," matud pa ni SBP Central Visayas president ug award-winning coach Raul 'Yayoy' D. Alcoseba. 

Si league commissioner Jose 'Boy' Murillo nagkanayon nga may 12 na ka teams ang nikompirmar sa ilang partisipasyon ning usa ka semana ka kompetisyon nga naglatid sa 19-under sa boys ug girls ug 17-under age classification.

Kini naglakip sa Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) member schools University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), University of the Visayas (UV), University of San Carlos (USC), University of Cebu (UC), Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT), University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) ug Sacred Heart School-Jesuit (SHS-J).

Lain pang nipadayag mao ang Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT), PAREF-Springdale, Asian College of Technology ug uban pang mga tunghaan gikan sa Tagbilaran/Bohol, Dumaguete ug Tacloban.

Ang registration fee nagkantidad og P5,000 matag teams, samtang ang SBP mogahin og P100,000 subsidy matag area championship. – BANAT NEWS
