Donaire-Darchinyan, walang rematch!

MANILA, Philippines – Ayaw na ni American promoter Gary Shaw na muling makita ang kanyang boksingerong si Vic Darchinyan na humandusay mula sa isang suntok ni world flyweight champion Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire, Jr.

Idinepensa ni Shaw ang hindi niya pagtatakda sa rematch nina Darchinyan at Donaire. 

“Vic is just moving up in weight from 112 to 115 and then to 118 and eventually to 122 pounds,” ani Shaw sa panayam ng Examiner.com. “Vic is doing this the way Manny Pacquiao did it. I have no problem making such a rematch but who will buy it, who will pay the freight?"

Matatandaang tinalo ni Donaire si Darchinyan via fifth-round TKO noong Hulyo ng 2007 para agawin ng tubong Bohol ang dating suot na International Boxing Federation (IBF) at International Boxing Organization (IBO) flyweight belts ng Armenian fighter.

Mula sa promotional outfit ni Shaw, lumipat ang 26-anyos na si Donaire sa Top Rank ni Bob Arum dahilan sa kabiguan ni Shaw na bigyan ng malalaking laban ang Pinoy matapos talunin si Darchinyan.

Sinabi ni Shaw na wala siyang naririnig mula sa Top Rank para sa posibleng rematch nina Donaire at Darchinyan.

"Donaire is with Top Rank and yet I have never had a phone call from either Todd duBoef or from Bob Arum about a rematch. And HBO shows no interest in this particular fight, either,” ani Shaw.

Ang 33-anyos na si Darchinyan ang kasalukuyang IBF, World Boxing Council (WBC) at World Boxing Association (WBA) super flyweight titlist.

“My job for Vic, for any fighter, is to get the most money along with most exposure," wika ni Shaw. "What has Donaire been doing since he beat Vic? Not much, really. Top Rank gets more exposure and publicity for the Russian kid (7-0 middleweight Matt Korobov) than they do for Donaire." (Russell Cadayona)
