Metallic silhouette shootfest

MANILA, Philippines - Idaraos ng Philippine National Shooting Association ang kakaibang shooting event na tinaguriang metallic silhouette sa Mayo 10 sa PNSA/Marines range sa Fort Bonifacio.

Sa katunayan, ikatlong pagkakataon na ito na isinasagawa ng national body sa pangunguna ni two-time Olympian Art Macapagal ang nasabing kompetisyon na umiikot na sa bansa mula pa noong kaagahan ng dekada 70s pero tanging ilang mga private clubs lamang ang nagpopromote ng nasabing shooting event. At huling idinaos ito ng PNSA may 27-taon na ang nakakaraan.

Mahigit sa 100 shooters mula sa iba’t ibang Metro Manila clubs at probinsya ang inaasahang maglalaban-laban para sa karangalan.

Inaasahang ding magpapadala ng kinatawan para sa nasabing shootfest ang mga club teams mula sa San Fernando Pampanga at Arayat (Pampanga), Valenzuela (Bulacan), Makati, Pasig, Marikina, Antipolo, Taytay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Quezon City, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Daet at Naga (Camarines Sur), Ateneo at University of the Philippines.

“The sport actually originated in Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. During those days, they used live chickens, boars, turkey and rams as targets,” paliwanag ni Macapagal. “Now, the event is gaining popularity worldwide.”
