Gallego, Japan Open champion

MANILA, Philippines - Tinalo ni Ramil Gallego si Ro Liwen ng Chinese-Taipei, 9-3, upang makumpleto ang sweep at maghari sa Japan Open 9-Ball Championship sa Tokyo, Japan.

Bunga nito, si Gallego ang ikalimang Pinoy na nagwagi sa prestihiyosong event na nilahukan ng mahigit 400 cue artists mula sa iba’t-ibang bahagi ng mundo.

Upang makarating sa finals. Tinalo ni Gallego ang kababayang si Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes, 9-2 sa quarterfinals at Japanese Tanaka Masaki, 9-3 sa semifinal round.

Sa kabilang dako, pinatalsik ni Ro ang kababayang si Ko Pinyi, 9-8 sa quarterfinals at sinilat si dating World Pool king Alex Pagulayan, 9-4 sa semis.

At dahil sa panalo ding ito, sinundan ni Gallego ang yapak nina dating Japan Open champion Dennis Orcollo (2008) Pagulayan (2007), Reyes (2005), at Bustamante (2002).

“Masayang-masaya ako dahil sa panalong ito. Gustong-gusto ko talagang manalo dito,” ani Gallego.

Muntik nang masungkit ni Gallego ang Japan Open crown noong 2003 pero natalo siya sa finals.
