Ikinakasang Mosley vs Dela Hoya fight, ibinasura ng GBP

MANILA, Philippines - Hanggang sa kasalu­kuyan ay wala pa ring may alam kung ano ang plano ni world six-division cham­pion Oscar Dela Hoya ma­tapos ang kanyang eight-round TKO loss kay Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao noong Disyembre 6 ng 2008.

Ibinasura kahapon ni Gol­den Boy Promotions’ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Schaefer ang posibilidad na pag-ak­yat muli ng 36-anyos na si Dela Hoya sa boxing ring katapat ang kaibigang si Sugar Shane Mosley.

“That’s not going to hap­pen,” wika ni Schaefer sa panayam ng Sports Il­lus­trated.com. “I honestly don’t know what Oscar is going to do. I don’t think Os­car is ready to commit to anything right now. And Shane has moved on. He’s clearly the No. 1 wel­terweight in the world. He wants to be in there with the biggest and the best.”

Makaraan ang kan­yang pagkatalo kay Pac­quiao sa kanilang non-title welterweight fight, wala nang narinig pa mula kay “Golden Boy”.

Kagaya ni Dela Hoya, wala pa ring balak si world five-division titlist Floyd May­weather, Jr. na bu­ma­lik sa aksyon at kalabanin ang 37-anyos na si Mos­ley nang biglaang mag­re­tiro matapos umiskor ng isang tenth-round TKO kay Briton Ricky Hatton para sa world welter­weight title noong Disyem­bre ng 2007.

Hindi rin tinanggap ng kampo ng 28-anyos na si Mayweather, ikinukunsidera ring susunod na makakalaban ng 30-anyos na si Pacquiao makaraan ang world light welterweight championship fight nito kay Hatton sa Mayo 2.

“I was told by Al Hay­mon that Floyd was not co­ming out of retirement to fight Shane Mosley,” ani Schaefer sa manager ni Mayweather. “I feel bad for Shane. It’s as if he looked too good in his last fight. It was the best performance of his career and maybe it made some guys not want to face him.”

Kamakailan ay sinabi ni American trainer Fred­die Roach na maaari ring hamunin ni Pacquiao si Mosley, inagaw ang suot na World Boxing Asso­ciation (WBA) wel­ter­weight belt ni Me­xican Antonio Margarito.

“I have had a few pre­liminary conversations with Bob Arum,” ani Schae­fer sa itinutulak na pagdedepensa ni Mos­ley kay dating WBA king Miguel Cotto na hawak rin ni Bob Arum ng Top Rank Promotions. “I was told even before (the Mar­garito suspension) that Cotto preferred to fight Shane over Mar­ga­rito. I’m sure we will talk some more.”
