POC mag-aalay ng 'Unity mass' ngayon

Isang ‘unity mass’ ang nakatakda ngayong araw na pangungunahan ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president-elect Jose “Peping” Cojuangco, Jr. sa PhilSports Arena sa Pasig City.

Ang nasabing misa, ayon sa 74-anyos na si Cojuangco ng equestrian federation ay palagian na niyang iniskedyul tuwing unang Biyernes ng buwan sa hangaring mabigyan ng tamang basbas ang mga officials at national athletes ng Sacred Heart.

“I already scheduled it even before the POC Elections. First Friday mass, tapos Thanks-giving mass na rin together with all the athletes and officials,” wika ni Cojuangco, umiskor ng 21-19 panalo sa karibal na si Art Macapagal ng shooting association sa nakaraang POC Elections noong Nob-yembre 28.

Matapos ang misa, isang party rin ang inihanda ni Cojuangco, dating kinatawan ng Tarlac sa Kongreso.

“May unity party rin para mawala na lahat ng elements that have caused some kind of misunderstanding with the POC family,” dagdag ng POC chief, sisimulan ang kanyang panibagong four-year term simula sa Enero 1 ng 2009.

Makakasama ni Cojuangco sa nasabing okasyon ang iba pang nanalong opisyales na sina Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella ng weightlifting (chairman), boxing vice-president Manny Lopez (first vice-president), sepak takraw head Mario Tanchanco (second vice-president), wushu chief Julian Camacho (treasurer) at body building secretary-general Corrina Mojica (auditor) at sina POC Board members Mark Joseph ng swimming, Dr. Leonora Fe Brawner ng archery, David Carter ng judo at Jett Tamayo ng soft tennis.

Itinakda naman ni Cojuangco ang Christmas Party ng POC sa Disyembre 12 kasabay ng kanilang oath-taking.

“Everybody will be there because it’s a General Assembly. Inisip ko ito para naman in the presence of the members of the POC, mag-oathtaking na rin ‘yung mga newly-elected officials,” wika ni Cojuangco. (Russell Cadayona)
