BEIJING -- Sa pagparada ng Team Philippines sa closing ceremonies ng 29th Olympic Games ilang araw mula ngayon, ang swimmer na si Miguel Molina ang magdadala ng national flag.
Matapos palitan ng boxing icon na si Manny Pacquiao sa opening rites, pangungunahan ng 24-gulang na si Molina ang 10 Pinoy athletes teammates at ilang officials sa pagmartsa sa August 24 sa Bird’s Nest.
“He (Molina) will carry the flag this time,” pahayag ng isang official ng national contingent na ayaw pabanggit ang pangalan dahil hindi pa nila nasasabihan si Molina.
Sinira ni Molina, ang best male athlete sa Southeast Asian Games sa Thailand noong nakaraang taon, ang kanyang sariling Philippine record sa 200-meter individual medley sa kanyang kampanya dito sa Olympiad.
He was part of the five-member swimming squad that reset four national marks and surpassed three SEA Games standards. The team also included Christel Simms, Daniel Coakley and Ryan Arabejo.
Trap shooter Eric Ang, female lifter Hidilyn Diaz and archer Mark javier, together with their coaches, returned to Manila at the end of their respective events last week.
Boxer Harry Tanamor will leave today for Manila.
