WPC ‘di ibo-boycott ng BMPAP
Hindi iboboycott ng mga players na kasapi ng Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) ang World Pool Championships.
Ito ang paglilinaw ng BMPAP ukol sa balitang hindi sila makikibahagi sa pinakamalaking billiards event na dalawang taon nang inorganisa sa bansa ng Raya Sports sa ilalim ng president nitong si Yen Makabenta na siya ring chairman ng Billiards and Snookers Congress of the Philippines (BSCP)
“What we are going to boycott are the events organized by promoter Yen Makabenta and his Raya Sports. The WPC is not a Raya event. It’s an event by the UK-based Matchroom Sport. Raya is only a facilitator of it,” ayon sa statement ng BMPAP. “The report, we believe, is the result of the mistaken belief that Raya owns the WPC, which is an example of misconception being created by Makabenta’s dual position as chairman of the BSCP and head of Raya – a conflict of interest the BMPAP is up against.”
Sinabi ni Raya Managing Director JP Fenix na sa bawat event na kanilang inoorganisa, inihahayag nila ang mga players na maaaring makalaro.
“We do not issue invitations,” anito. “We do not force anyone to join. But our experience is that our tournaments – the national championships and the world pool championships – have usually overflowed with participants. If there are some players who don’t want to join these events, that will therefore be their loss, not ours.”
