Record-breaking performance uli kay Balatucal

NAKHON RATCHASI-MA, Thailand — Nakopo ni Joel Balatucal ang kanyang ikalawang athletics gold medal upang bigyang buhay ang makulimlim na araw ng Team Philippines papasok sa huling dalawang araw ng aksiyon sa 4th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Para Games sa  His Majesty The King’s 80th Anniversary Stadium dito.

Nakopo na rin sa wakas  ni Arnel Aba ang gintong me-dalya  saswimming matapos makakuha ng dalawang silvers nang manguna tio sa 200m freestyle S9 class sa oras na two minutes at 31,03 seconds para talunin sina Thai Samak Nambut (2:36.10 at Vietnamese Nguyen Hoang Nha (2:40.23).

Nakakuha naman si Bala-tucal, 27-gulang, ng shot put gold sa naitalang 8.17 meters upang wasakin ang record ng kababayang si Jerico Openia na7.40m na naitala noong 2005 Manila Para Games.

Ito ang ikalawang gold ni Balatucal  dahil sinira din nito ng record ni Openia na 20.33m sa discus throw  na naitalang 21.51m.

“Ang sarap ng feeling,” wika niBalatucal,  polio victim at nagtratrabaho sa computer repairs sa Novaliches.
