Disaster ang simula ng RP Team

MACAU -- Kabiguan sa chess at finswimming, kontrobersiya at proble-ma ang naging simula ng kampanya ng  Philippines sa Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games kahapon.

Sa opening ceremonies sa Macau Stadium, iba-iba ang uniporme ng Philippine delegation sa parada dahil iba ang isinuot ng futsal team at iba rin ang kanilang identification tags.

Isinuot ng futsal team ang unipormeing ibinigay ng kanilang sponsor at dahil dito, posibleng hindi sila makasama sa Southeast Asian Games dahil magsasagawa ng imbes-tigasyon bakit nangyari ito ayon kay Philippine Sports Commision (PSC) Commissioner Richie Garcia.

Ang mas malaking isyu ay ang balitang ang maling paggamit ng donasyon ng Olympic Council of Asia na $100,000 sa Philippine Olympic Committee na dapat ay pampagawa ng POC office.

“We already did (construct an office), using half of the OCA’s donation,” ani POC secretary general Steve Hontiveros. “These kinds of reports are so malicious it destroys the country’s reputation here, especially with our athletes still competing here.”

“Our documents will show that we have used part of the donation for the POC office, which we relocated to the Philsports,” dagdag ni Hontiveros. “Our records and conscience are clean. We have already explained everything to the OCA.”

Kasabay ng mga problemang ito, natalo ang RP chessers sa Ka-zakhstan, 2.5-1.5, sa team rapid chess.

Hindi nalukuban ng panalo ni Wesley So kay Murtas Kashgaleyev ang kabiguan nina Sherily Cua kay Maria Sergeye-va at ni Chaterine Perena  kay Gulmira Pauletova. Naka-draw lamang si Rolando Nolte kay Anuar Isamgenbelov. 

Matapos ang 2.5-1.5 panalo sa Malaysia , nabigo naman ang chess team sa India, 3-1, na mayroon na ngayong 3-1sa standings,  sa likod ng 4-0 ng China.

Walang Pinoy swimmer na nakalusot sa fin-swimming sa heats.
