Mahirap ikumpara si Goosen kay Roach

Mahirap maghanap ng isang premyadong trainer na kagaya ni Freddie Roach.

Kaya naman ayaw ikumpara ni Gary Gittel-son, manager ni da-ting Filipino light flyweight champion Brian Viloria, si Joe Goosen kay Roach na kasalukuyang nagsa-sanay kay world junior middleweight titlist Oscar Dela Hoya.

"I certainly don’t wanna make comparisons bet-ween Joe and Freddie because they are both terrific trainers and Freddie is a close friend of mine and I consider him a part of the family," ani Gittelson kay Roach.

Dahilan sa pagiging abala ni Roach sa pagsa-sanay kay Dela Hoya sa Puerto Rico, mas minabuti ni Gittelson na kuhanin ang serbisyo ni Goosen para pamahalaan ang training ni Viloria.

"Freddie has spread himself a little too thin and Brian was an unfortunate casualty of Freddie’s schedule," ani Gittelson. "Knowing that Freddie couldn’t devote the kind of time to Brian that he had in the past, it is my job as a manager to make sure that I found someone equally good and who could motivate Brian. And Joe fits that all perfectly."

Sasagupain ni Viloria, may 19-1-1 win-loss-draw ring record kasama ang 12 knockouts, si Mexican Edgar Sosa, may 26-5 (14 KOs) slate, sa Abril 14 para sa bakanteng World Boxing Council (WBC) light flyweight crown.

Ang Viloria-Sosa championship fight ay undercard ng international super featherweight bout ni Manny Pacquiao kay Mexican Jorge Solis sa Alamodome sa San Antonio, Texas.  (Russell Cadayona)
