Training, draw susi sa kampanya ng mga local shuttlers sa RP Open

Mahigpit na hamon ang haha-rapin ng mga local shuttlers sa unang Philippine Open Badminton Championships ngunit nangako si-lang magbibigay sila ng magan-dang laban sa pamamagitan ng masusing training para sa March 1-5 event sa PhilSports Arena.

"Our chances would be hard to say, but our preparedness and the luck of the draw will surely count a lot," sabi ni Kennie Asuncion, na mangunguna sa kampan-ya ng mga locals sa $120,000 event.

Sinabi ni Kennie na sabik na ang lahat para sa four-star tourna-ment na ito na sanctioned ng IBF (International Badminton Federa-tion), ngunit kailangan nilang mag-handang mabuti para sa torneong ito na lalahukan ng tinatayang 200 players mula sa 25 countries.

"I hope each of us Pinoy par-ticipant will do well here," ani Asuncion, na sasabak sa ladies doubles kasama si Paola Obana-na at mixed doubles kapares ang kanyang kapatid na si Kennevic.

Tatlong European nations -- Denmark, Germany at England ang mangunguna sa listahan ng mga foreign teams na kinabibila-ngan din ng China, Indonesia, Ma-laysia, Chinese-Taipei, Vietnam, Iran, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, India, Macau, Pakistan at Sri Lanka, ayon sa nag-organisang IMG at spon-sored ng JVC sa ilalim ng Philip-pine Badminton Association.
