Good luck bowlers – Paeng

Pagbibigay na lamang ng lakas ng loob ang maibabahagi ni fourtime World Cup champion Paeng Nepomuceno sa Philippine national bowling team para sa 23rd Southeast Asian Games.

"I wish them luck at sana manalo sila ng maraming golds para sa Pilipinas," sambit ng left-hander na si Nepomuceno sa RP Team na pangungunahan ni 2004 World Cup titlist CJ Suarez. "I’m sure kaya nilang manalo because of their talent and hardwork."

Sisimulan ang bowling event ng 2005 Philippine SEA Games sa pagtataya ng dalawang gintong medalya sa men’s at women’s singles 6-games simula ngayong alas-9 ng umaga sa Pearl Bowling Center sa Parañaque City.

Ang men’s team ay kinabibilangan nina Suarez, Biboy Rivera, Chester King, Ernesto Gatchalian, Tyrone Christopher Ongpauco at Markwin Lopez Tee, habang binubuo naman nina Liza del Rosario, Jojo Canare, Liza Clutario, Irene Garcia, Ces Yap at Elaine Florencio ang ladies team.

Kabuuang 10 gintong medalya ang nakalinya para sa bowling event, ayon kay Philippine Bowling Congress (PBC) president Steve Hontiveros.

Noong 1991 Manila SEA Games ang pinakamasiglang taon ng PBC nang magpagulong ng apat na gold, 9 silver at 3 bronze medals, habang ang pinakamatamlay naman ay noong 1999 sa Brunei nang mag-uwi ng tig-isang gold at silver.

Hindi isinama ng Vietnam ang bowling sa calendar of events sa kanilang pamamahala sa naturang biennial meet noong 2003. (Russell Cadayona)
