Ibalik ang BAP, kahit pansamantala

Para maidepensa ang basketball title sa Southeast Asian Games, kailangang i-reinstate ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) ang Basket-ball Association of the Philippines kahit sa temporary basis lamang ayon sa BAP.

Ito ay base sa October 27 letter ni International Basket-ball Federation (FIBA) secretary general Patrick Bau-mann kay POC president Jose Cojuangco Jr. na natanggap din ni BAP president Joey Lina.

Ayon sa liham ni Bau-mann, may dalawang alter-natibo lamang para magka-roon ng basketball sa SEA Games at ito ay ang pag-babalik sa ‘Status Qou’ o ang napagkasunduang MOU nina Cojuangco at Baumann ngunit may katagalan ang huli dahil kailangan pa itong aprubahan ng FIBA Central Board na magpupulong sa April 2006 pa.

Sinabi naman ni Cojuangco na siya ring Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee na kailangan pa niyang makipagpulong sa SEAG Federation Council sa November 11 sa Bangkok, Thailand ukol sa usaping ito.

Ito ang naging desisyon ni POC at PHILSOC chief matapos konsultahin ang SEAG basketball task force na pinangungunahan nina POC Chairman Robert Aventajado at POC legal counsel Ding Tanjuatco.

Ayon sa task force na kinabibilangan nina athletics chief Go Teng Kok, wushu president Julian Camacho, POC secretary general Steve Hontiveros, POC spokesman Joey Romasanta, and Philippine Basketball Federation president Mauricio Martelino, ang SEAG Fede-ration ang makakapag-desisyon sa naturang isyu.
