Shakey’s Invitational volleyfest tune-up para sa RP women’s team

Magsisilbing tune-up tournament ng national women's volleyball team para sa 23rd Southeast Asian Games ang nalalapit na Shakey's Invitational Volleyball kung saan kalahok ang SEAG top contender na Thailand, Indonesia at Myanmar simula sa Oct. 7 sa Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Ang format ay single round robin tournament at ang koponang may best win-loss record ang ide-deklarang champion, ayon sa nag-organisang Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF).

Ang three-day event na inilunsad kahapon sa PSA Forum sa main function room ng Pantalan Restaurant sa Manila, ay matatapos sa Oct. 9 at bahagi ito ng pagpapalakas ng RP team para sa biennial game na nakatakda sa Nov. 27-Dec. 5 dito sa Manila at tatlo pang satellite venues.

"This is a good exposure and training for our national team in its bid for the SEA Games, since some of our rivals in the region, including power-house Thailand will be competing," sabi ni Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) treasurer Ricky Palou sa public sports program na sponsored ng Red Bull, Circure, Supermax, PAGCOR at ni Manila Mayor Lito Atienza.

Kasama ni Palou si Shakey’s general manager Vicente Gregorio, Jun Bernardino ng event coordinator Sports Vision Management Group Inc., tournament director Tony Boy Liao, Jude Torcuato , Solar sports vice president for marketing, mga miyembro ng RP team na sina Michelle Carolino, Roxanne Pimentel at Cherry Rose Macatangay at coach Ramil de Jesus.

Ang Shakey's Pizza na siyang nagtataguyod ng women’s volleyball nitong huling dalawang taon sa bansa ay patuloy na tumutulong sa national squad na makapaghanda para sa SEAG at buhayin na rin ang kasikatan ng naturang sport sa pamamagitan ng pagtatanghal ng Shakey's V-League kung saan nakakalaban ng mga miyembro ng RP team ang mga top collegiate players sa bansa.

"We’re very honored to be a part of this special project," ani Gregorio. "It’s actually a win-win situation for us since we get to assist the national team in its training and be able to promote our product."
