Kung magkaka-problema sa paglalaro ni Goma, agrabyado ang bansa

Kung magkakaroon ng problema sa paglalaro ni actor-sportsman Richard Gomez sa dalawang events sa darating na 23rd Southeast Asian Games, lalabas na agrabyado ang Pilipinas.

Sinabi kahapon ni Philip-pine Olympic Committee (POC) president Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco, Jr. na dapat alamin ng SEA Games Task Force ang magiging schedule ng fencing at shooting events sa 2005 SEA Games.

"Ang sinasabi sa akin diyan ay kung magsasabay ‘yung dala-wang events ni Richard Gomez. Iyon lamang ang dapat matingnan ng mabuti," wika ni Cojuangco sa 6-foot-2 na si Gomez.

Sasabak si Gomez sa men’s individual at team epee events ng fencing at sa air pump shotgun event ng shooting.

"Naturally, i-schedule ‘yan. May mga eliminations at hindi mo malalaman kung saan darating. Magiging agrabyado tayo kapag nagkaroon ng conflict sa sche-dule. The country will be at a lost kung mawawala ‘yung slot natin because only one person is playing in both games," ani Cojuangco.

Parehong pumasa ang 32-anyos na si Gomez, unang nagsa-nay sa archery at rowing, sa isina-gawang eliminations ng Philippine Amateur Fencing Association (PAFA) ay Philippine National Shooting Association of the Philippines (PNSA).

Ang paglahok ni Gomez sa dalawang events sa fencing at shooting ay natalakay na rin ng Task Force SEA Games noong Martes.

Si Gomez ay bahagi ng men’s epee team na tumusok ng gintong medalya sa nakaraang edisyon ng biennial event noong 2003 sa Vietnam.
