PHILSOC, naka-ipon ng P20M mula sa Kongreso

Nakahakot ang Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHILSOC) ng humigit-kumulang sa P20 milyon mula sa ilang miyembro ng Kongreso sa isang informal lunch meeting na idinaos kahapon sa Century Park Sheraton Hotel.

Ayon kay PHILSOC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco, Jr., ang naturang pondo ay mula sa kontribusyon ng ilang Congressman bilang tulong sa pagdaraos ng 23rd SEA Games sa Nobyembre.

Matatandaang naglatag ng tig-P2 milyon sina House Committee on Youth and Sports chairman Renato Unico at Bacolod City Rep. Monico Puente-vella para pangunahan ang naturang layunin.

Maliban kay Cojuangco, dumalo rin sa pulong sina PHILSOC chairman Roberto Pagdanganan, PHIL-SOC Chief Operations Officer (COO) at Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez, POC chairman Robert Aventajado at POC secretary-general Steve Hontiveros.

Hindi naman nakapunta sina Sen. Lito Lapid, Sen. Pia Cayetano at Sen. Alfredo Lim.

Si Lapid, chairman ng Senate Committee on Games and Amusements, ang unang Senador na nangako ng P50 milyon bilang tulong niya sa PHILSOC. (Russell Cadayona)
