14-man RP boxing team tutungo sa Sri Lanka

Aalis ngayon ang 14-kataong team mula sa national training pool ng Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines patungong Sri Lanka upang harapin ang kanilang kalaban mula sa Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka para sa isang dual meet sa Colombo.

Ang naturang dual meet ay limang araw na affair na bahagi din ng eliminations ng ABAP para sa pagbuo ng miyembro ng national squad na isasabak sa nalalapit na Manila Southeast Asian Games.

Ang biyahe, na suportado ng Ginebra San Miguel, PSC at Pacific Heights, ay kinabibilangan nina ABAP Region IV VP Felix Apostadero, apat na babaeng boksingero na umaasam din ng posisyon sa SEA Games na may limang weight categories.

Ang mga babaeng boksingero ay sina pinweight Annaliza Cruz, light flyweight Josie Gabuco, flyweight Alice Kate Aparri at light bantamweight Annie Albania. Sila ay sasamahan ni Barcelona Olympics bronze medalist coach Roel Velasco.

Ang men’s team, na igigiya ni Beijing Asian Games Gold medalist Roberto Jalnaiz, ay kinabibilangan naman nina light flyweight Albert Pabila, flyweight Junel Cantancio, bantamweight Rolando Magbanua Jr., featherweight Francis Cutamora, lightweight Genebert Basadre at light welterweight Florencio Ferrer Jr. Kasama din si referee/judge Darcito Teodoro.
