Thailand, Laos host ng 2007 at 2009 SEA Games

Napiling host para sa 2007 at 2009 Southeast Asian Games ang Thailand at Laos, ayon sa pagkakasunod, ng Southeast Asian Games Executive Committee sa meeting na ginanap kahapon sa New World Hotel sa Makati City.

Ito ang ikaanim na pagkakataong magho-host ang Thailand sa palaro. Ang regional games ay nagsimula sa Thailand noong 1959 nang Southeast Asian Peninsular Games pa ito.

Tinanggap din ni SEA Games Federation president Celso Dayrit ng Philippines ang proposal na isinumite ng Laos na mag-host sa 25th Games.

"We are happy to receive this development that even Laos has signified its readiness and capability to host the games," ani Dayrit. "The SEA Games Federation will always be ready to extend its full cooperation to the NOC and people of Laos to make sure that the 25th Games is held successfully."

Ito ang unang pagkakataon na magtatanghal, at ikawalong bansa na magho-host sa SEAG rotation.

Tanging tatlo lamang sa 11-member countries ng 54 year old federation ang hindi pa nagho-host ng games. Ito ay ang Cambodia, Myanmar at Timor Leste.
