MY Games event para sa Ohio Games

Inihayag kahapon ni Arnold ‘Ali’Atienza, chief organizing Manila Sports Council (MASCO) na ang gaganaping 3rd Manila Youth Games (MY Games) ay magsisilbing qualifying event sa pagpili ng mga karapat-dapat na atleta na bubuo sa delegasyon ng bansa sa 2004 International Children’s Games (ICG) sa Cleveland, Ohio simula sa Hulyo 29 hanggang Agosto 2.

"This year’s edition of the MY Games not only promises to be a colorful and meaningful event filled with spirited competition among the city’s youth, but will also showcase the best 15-under athletes to compromise Team Manila-Philippines to the International Children’s Games," wika ni Atienza.

Inaasahang aabot sa mahi-git 8,000 children-athletes mula sa 897 barangays at 130 public at private schools sa siyudad ang magpapakita ng aksiyon sa 3rd MY Games na naka-takda sa June 27-July 4 sa makasaysayang Rizal Memorial Sports Complex na supor-tado ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) at Philip-pine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor).

"Besides youth, Manila has also put emphasis on the role of sports in nation-building that could potentially provide initial steps in producing future sports heroes," dagdag pa ni Ali.

Mahigit sa 3,000 atleta mula sa buong mundo may edad na 15 pababa ang magtitipun-tipon sa Cleveland upang katawanin ang kani-kanilang siyudad kung saan ang Team Philippines ay lalahok sa athletics, lawn tennis, swimming, gymnastics at table tennis.

Unang idinaos ang ICG, ang pinakamalaking internatio-nal multi-sport sa buong mun-do para sa mga youth games ay kinilala ng International Olympic Committee (IOC) noong 1968 at mula dito, umabot na sa 24,000 children’s athletes ang lumahok na kumatawan sa 230 siyudad at 50 bansa.
