60 golds aasintahin ng PSC sa Vietnam

At dahil sa posibleng pag-asinta ng siyam na gintong medalya na makukuha ng athletics, bukod pa sa wrestling, fencing, boxing, taekwondo at billiards at snooker na nagpahayag ng kumpiyansa na makapag-uuwi sila ng hindi bababa sa tatlong ginto, sinabi kahapon ng Philippine Sports Commission na ang Philippine delegation sa Vietnam Southeast Asian Games ay may magandang tsansa na malagpasan ang kanilang maximum target na 60 ginto.

Noong nakaraang linggo, natanggap na ng PSC ang listahan ng mga ‘high possible winners’ mula sa PSC monitoring group na nagmula sa roster base na rin sa scientific studies at reports ng mga coaches at ng National Sports Association na nagpapahiwatig ng mataas na kumpiyansa ng mga national athletes.

Gayunman, umiwas si PSC Chairman Eric Buhain na magbigay ng anumang detalye, pero umaasa siya na makapagbibigay rin ang mga atleta mula sa rowing, diving, chess, cycling, shooting, gymnastics, judo, wushu, pencak silat, karatedo-kata, weightlifting, archery at basketball ng ginto bukod pa sa anim na mina ng ginto ng delegasyon.

"We respect the coaches’ decision not to expose our athletes to further pressure and open them to possible scouting by our SEAG rivals," ani Buhain. "But from our end, we commend our coaches for boldly coming up with lists which could be our yardstick when we compete in the Dec. 5-13 sports conclave."

Ayon pa kay Buhain ang iba pang sports na may malakas na tsansa na manalo ay ang swimming, traditional boatrace, body building, canoeing-kayaking, sepak takraw, waterpolo at volleyball.
