International at Asian athletic chief dadalaw kay PGMA

Pangungunahan nina Lamine Diack, presidente ng International Athletics Association Federation at Shri Suresh Kalmadi, head honcho ng Asian Athletics Association ang iba’t ibang foreign delegation na magbibigay ng courtesy call sa Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo sa Malacañang sa September 18, sa bisperas ng pagbubukas ng Congress ng 3As.

Sasamahan nina Philippine Sports Commission chairman Eric Buhain at Go Teng Kok, chief ng organizing committee hosting ng 15th Asian Athletics championships si Diack at ang kanyang mga kasama, gayundin din sina sports commisisoners William Ramirez, Leon Montemayor, Michael Barredo at Bonifacio de Luna.

At bilang pangulo ng IAAF, kinukunsidera si Diack, mula sa Senegal na ikatlo sa pinaka-powerful member ng International Olympic Committee, habang si Kalmadi, miyembro ng India’s Parliament ang siya ang may huling salita sa athletics.

Si Kalmadi rin ang mangangasiwa sa Congress plenary sa September 19, patungo sa pormal opening program ng 15th Asian Championships sa susunod na araw sa Rizal track and field stadium.

Inanyayahan si President Macapagal Arroyo na maging principal guest of honor at speaker kung saan mahigit sa 1,500 foreign athletes, coaches, dignitaries, member of royalty at diplomatic corps ang siyang sasaksi sa opening ceremony.

Mismong ang pangulo ang nagpahayag ng Proclamation 432 na nagdedekalara na ang 2003 bilang ‘Asian Athletics Championships Year.’ Bunga nito, ninombrahan niya si PATAFA president Go Teng Kok na manguna sa pagsasagawa ng championships sa koordinasyon ni Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Eric Buhain.
