PSC-Manila Talent ID Program ilulunsad

Napataon sa pagbubukas ng hostilidad ng opening ceremony ng 2nd Manila Youth Games (MYG) sa Linggo, Abril 6, ilulunsad naman ng Philippine Sports Commission at Manila Sports Council (MAS-CO) ang PSC-Manila Talent Identification Program.

Tinatayang aabot sa 8,000 kabataang atleta na ang edad ay hindi bababa sa 15 ang magsasama-sama sa makasaysayang Rizal Memorial Stadium para sa isang linggong multi-event competition.

"We intend to take advantage of the opportunity, hoping to identify potentials through the Manila Youth Games that we believe can help provide a base for future athletic talents," ani PSC chairman Eric Buhain.

Ang mga kabataan na may edad 14 pababa ay makikilala at masusubok sa pamamagitan ng sports segregation program para sa posibleng pagsama nito sa developmental pools ng iba’t ibang sports. Inaasinta dito ang mga lalaki na may edad 14 pababa at may minimun height na 5-foot-11 at babae na edad 12 pababa at may taas na 5-foot-4 o mas mataas pa.

Kabilang sa mga sports na paglalabanan sa 2nd MYG ay ang athletics, badminton, baseball, chess, dancesports, football, gymnastics, softball, swimming, table tennis, lawn tennis, taekwondo, volleyball at paralympics.

Pararangalan rin sa nasabing seremonya ang mga atleta na nagbigay ng karangalan sa bansa na kinabibilangan ng yumaong si Manila Mayor Arsenio Lacson ng football, bowling’s Bong Coo, eques-trianne Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski, Francisco ‘Kiko’ Calilan at Engracio ‘Boy’ Arazas ng basketball, baseball’s Teofilo ‘Ting’ Sta. Rosa, Martin Gison ng shooting at Grandmaster Joey Antonio ng Chess.

Mayroon ring cheering competition, acrobatic show, skydiving exhibition ng Philippine Navy, fireworks display na inaasahang mas magpapatingkad sa opening ceremony ng MYG.
