4,000 atleta sa 50 lalawigan lalahok sa Mindanao Friendship Games

Tinatayang magpapakita ng aksiyon ang ilang dayuhang koponan sa 2nd Mindanao Friendship Games (MFG) sa Cagayan de Oro City sa Oktubre 15-19 bilang preparasyon ng organizing Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) bago dumako sa mas mataas na antas.

Ayon kay PSC Commissioner William ‘Butch’ Ramirez, overall project director na ang BIMP-EAGA ay binubuo ng Island of Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah, Lubuan, Malaysia, Kalimanatan at Maluko Irian Jaya ng Indonesia na inimbitahan upang magpadala ng kani-kanilang koponan para sumali sa nasabing event.

"The Northern Territory of Darwin, Australia has likewise been invited to send a delegation and participate, particularly in football and basketball," ani Ramirez. "We hope to provide exposure to our Mindanaoan athletes through friendly competitions with these foreign teams."

Tinatayang aabot 4,000 atleta at opisyal mula sa 50 probinsiya at ilang kalapit na siyudad ang lalahok sa multi sport open event competition na ito sa buong Mindanao.

Tampok ang mga sports na paglalabanan sa MFG ay ang arnis, athletics, badminton, basketball, baseball, boxing, chess, football, pencak silat, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, karatedo, judo at lawn tennis. Isinama na rin ang women’s basketball at softball.

Nakopo ng Cagayan de Oro City ang overall crown sa inagurasyon ng nabanggit na event noong nakaraang taon sa Mindanao Sports and Civic Center sa Tubud, Lanao del Norte.
