2 RP boxing team tutungo ng Ireland at Greece

Inihayag kahapon ng Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) ang pagbuo ng kanilang dalawang koponan na lalahok sa 2001 World Amateur Boxing Championships sa Ireland at Acropolis International sa Greece sa susunod na buwan.

Ayon kay Manny Lopez, ABAP president na ang nasabing dalawang koponan ay pinili ng coaching staff base sa kani-kanilang performance sa training at iba’t ibang competitions.

Tutungo sa Belfast, Ireland sa Hunyo 2-10 world championships na sina Roberto Balado Cup flyweight gold medalist Violeto Payla, light fly Harry Tanamor, bantam Arlan Lerio, feather Esmael Bacongon at lightweight Anthony Igusquiza. Puno ng delegasyon dito si Lopez mismo, habang coach naman sina Patricio Gaspi at referee/judge si Arturo Vidal.

Sasabak naman sa Acropolis competitions na nakatakda sa Hunyo 13-20 sa Athens, Greece sina light fly Lhyven Salazar, fly Rene Villaluz, bantam Ferdie Gamo, feather Florencio Ferrer, welter David Gopong, middle Maximino Tabangcora at light heavy Maraon Goles. Tatayong puno ng delegasyon si Ruben Roque at coaches sina Vicente Arcenal at Elmer Pamisa, habang referee/judge naman si Ernesto Peque.

Ang dalawang squads ay nasa kanila ng final stage ng kanilang preparasyon para sa dalawang tournaments, ang ikatlo at ikaapat na international exposure ng RP team aspirants.
