Tangalin, Putis, namayagpag sa 1st day Milo Junior Netfest

BAGUIO--Binokya ng club netter Andrew Tangalin si Kendall Abad, 6-0, 6-1 at naungusan ni Ed Michael Putis ng Cotabato City si Abraham Bergado, 7-6, 7-5 upang manguna sa opening day winners ng 2001 Milo Junior Tennis Cup and Regional Workshop dito sa Burnham Park claycourts.

Umusad sina Tangalin at Abad sa susunod na round ng boys’ 12-under division kasama sina Gerard Ngo na nanaig kontra kay Vanlee Budod, 6-0, 6-1; Mark Balce na nagtala ng 1-6, 6-0, 6-3 panalo kontra Patrick Arevalo; Paul Papa na nagpatalsik naman kay Chalikis Alawas, 6-3, 6-3; Gregory Atos na umiskor ng 2-6, 6-0, 6-1 panalo kontra kay Jay Mamawal at Chester Bayawan na sumibak naman kay Mark Diaz, 6-1, 6-1.

Sa boys’ 18-under bracket ng Milo netfest na ito na inorganisa ng CTW at suportado ng Adidas, namayani rin sina Jeric Biasura kay Jayvic Go, 6-0, 6-2; Borgs Solpico na nasilat si Ezra Punzalan, 7-6, 6-4, Chase Tinio na humiya kay Benedict Arguelles, 6-4, 6-1; Jun Cortez na nagpatalsik naman kay Jonathan Silva, 6-2, 6-3 at Denny Reyes na nanalo kontra kay Anthony Patcho, 6-0, 6-0.

Ang iba pang first day winners sa Philta-sanctioned age group na ito ay sina Arevalo, Ngo, Jaime Mamawal at Nikki Antolin sa unisex 10-under division; Kate Erece at Maureen de Castro sa girls’ 18 under class.

Sa kasamang tennis workshop sa Bontoc Tennis Club sa Mountain Province, 56 babae at lalaki ang ang dumalo sa beginners clinic sa koordinasyon ni club president Alfredo Tabtab at youth director Arvin Dugay.
