Saudi Arabia donates dates to ARMM

MANILA, Philippines - Saudi Arabia Ambassador to the Philippines Abdullah Al-Hassan (center) and senior representative of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Finance in Riyadh Saad Al Sunaidi (left) formally hand over 153 tons of dates to the UN World Food Programme (WFP) Philippines representative and country director Praveen Agrawal (right).

The date donation from the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be distributed to students who are part of WFP’s school feeding program in Central Mindanao, majority of whom are in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. The fruit contains essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals that will contri-bute to the children’s growth and development.

In coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, WFP will distribute the dates to about 65,000 vulnerable families in the conflict-affected provinces in ARMM.
