PNP receives 3rd Trailblazer award

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) received the Silver Governance Trailblazer award at the conclusion of the Performance Governance Forum (PGF) last Tuesday in recognition of progress achieved in its strategic plan to establish a capable, efficient and effective police force by 2030.

This is the PNP’s third Trailblazer Award, following similar successful presentations during PGFs held in March and September last year.

PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima received the award on behalf of the PNP from the Institute for Solidarity in Asia, National Competitiveness Council and the Center for International Private Enterprise, sponsors of the bi-annual PGF, which monitors progress in good governance programs of select government agencies.

The PNP got the award after garnering an average rating of 8.5 out of 10 from a panel of local and international Performance Governance System experts who evaluated the PNP Performance Governance Report.

Purisima reported on the 2012 accomplishments of the PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030, particularly on financial and logistical management, human resources management and police operations.

Purisima emphasized his strategic focus “CODE-P: 2013 and Beyond” will serve as the PNP’s blueprint towards the realization of the PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030.

Under the program, Purisima said the PNP will enhance individual and unit competencies, restructure the organization, instill discipline, promote a culture of excellence and institutionalize professionalism at all levels of the organization.

One of the highlights of the forum was the commitment ceremony which underscores 2015 as a milestone year as the Philippines will be hosting the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit and allied meetings.

Realizing the economic and developmental implications of the year-long APEC events, Purisima committed to bring breakthrough results by improving crime resolution through the three percent annual increase of crime clearance and crime solution efficiency.

Purisima also vowed to decrease by 50 percent the incidents of theft/robbery, snatching, salisi and bukas-kotse in major urban centers of Metro Manila and other regional centers nationwide.
